The property is very conveniently located - within 2 blocks there are two subway stations with access to 5 different train lines; in fact most parts of the city can be reached within 15 minutes by taking one of the trains from Grand Street, less than a block away. The owner is a designer, and has created a very comfortable, functional and cheerful space.

On entering the apartment you walk into the open-plan living area (12ft3 x 12ft x, 3.75m x 3.7m). The hardwood flooring, tastefully placed artwork, modern furniture and pleasing collection of plants create a calm and peaceful feeling.

Three tall windows give generous light. As well as a dining table and chairs there are 4 easy chairs and a side table arranged to make the most of the space.

You will also find an iPod dock and a superior sound system for your enjoyment.

The back of the living room opens up to the beautifully renovated and very stylish retro-chic kitchen with beautiful hand restored wooden cabinets, a stainless steel fridge and tile floor. Appliances include a fridge/freezer, gas oven/range, coffee maker, and kettle.

The two bedrooms are down a long hallway to the right of the entrance, with the bathroom at the end and the two bedrooms on the left.

The spacious second bedroom (13ft3 x 12ft, 4m x 3.7m) has two large, shuttered windows and an extra large, premium "California King" sized mattress (84" x 72") fitted with crisp, white linens. Across from the bed is a large dresser with a television. The owner has created a serene space with subtly sea-coloured walls and a small collection of Buddhist artwork. There are drawers and a closet available for storage.

The immaculately restored, beautifully tiled bathroom has a full bathtub, shower, wash basin and loo.

The apartment has cable television with premium channels. There is wi-fi internet access and a phone (US calls only).

For accessibility and variety, this neighbourhood is hard beat. Check out some Chinatown flavours and visit neighbourhood favourite The Dumpling House, just a couple of blocks away on Eldridge Street, for the tastiest dumplings around; or take a short stroll to Mulberry Street and dine Little Italy style at famous Umberto's Clam House - the lobster ravioli is a requirement!

Don't forget about the Lower East Side - just a block or so from the apartment you'll find Freeman's on Freeman alley. It's the city's favourite chic, cosy restaurant, known for their creative spin on country classics, and their ultra-hip crowd - be prepared to wait at the bar... it's a good thing their cocktails are delicious!
