This 8 person, 5 bedroom apartment is located in a historic area in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The streets are lined with trees and townhouses built in the late 19th century. The entrance to Central Park is directly across the street - and it's only a short stroll to the Charles A Dana Discovery Center, (110th street) the only environmental education center in the park, a great stop for families, where the centre features many different programs from musical performances to catch-and-release fishing in the Harlem Meer (106th street).

From the park's entrance it's a 20 minute walk to Summit Rock (83rd street), the highest elevation point in the park with lovely 360 degree views. There are great spots nearby for brunch and dinner, as well as a full service gourmet grocery around the corner. The nearest subway is a 7 minute walk away at 110th street.

This three floor apartment is on the second, third and fourth floors of a beautifully restored townhouse (built in 1888) with high ceilings and hardwood floors throughout. A spiral staircase links the three floors and the apartment sleeps eight in 2 double bedrooms, a twin and 2 singles. There are 2 full bathrooms.

The entrance to the apartment, on the second floor (no lift), opens to the living area (19ft x 15ft 9, 5.8m x 4.8m) where you'll find a leather sofa, 3 easy chairs, an ottoman, fireplace with original artwork above, sizeable oriental rug and a large television (local channels).


The décor is a mix of contemporary and classic furniture styles combined with an antique feel, reminiscent of the building and its history.


The dining room (9ft x 8ft, 2.75m x 2.45m) is located conveniently adjacent to the kitchen and living area. It has a classic oval wooden table and 6 white leather chairs.

The kitchen (16ft x 15ft9, 4.9m x 4.8m) is a cook's dream - anything needed to make a fabulous meal is right at your fingertips. It has a beautiful fireplace, hardwood floors, marble countertops and a large marble island in the centre for preparation (or socializing!), brand-new stainless steel appliances, and a small breakfast table with 3 chairs.

With the gourmet grocery Garden Of Eden (108th street) right around the corner you'll find every ingredient you're looking for....

Upstairs on the third floor is the first bedroom (16ft9 x 15ft9, 5.1m x 4.8m). It has two single beds, (80" x 39", 2m x 1m) a full closet, and a chest of drawers. There are restored stained-glass bay windows that look out onto the tree lined street below.

The second bedroom (16ft x 15ft6, 4.9m x 4.7m), also on the third floor, has a large double bed (80" x 60", 2m x 1.5m), an antique loveseat, an antique chest of drawers, a full closet and 2 nightstands with reading lamps. This is the master bedroom and it really shows the history of the house - old-style comfort and elegance in old-time New York.

These bedrooms share a bathroom - full bathtub with an overhead shower, washbasin and loo.

The other three bedrooms are on the fourth floor. The third bedroom (15ft9 x 15ft, 4.8m x 4.6m) has a double bed (75" x 54", 1.9m x 1.35m), 2 nightstands with reading lamps and a chaise-lounge, behind which are floor to ceiling antique bay windows which give the room lots of light.

The hardwood flooring is covered with an oriental rug, and there is a full closet available for storage.

The fourth and fifth bedrooms (14ft x 8ft , 4.3m x 2.4m) are both singles, each with a single bed (80" x 39", 2m x 1.5m), a full closet, and nightstand with reading lamp. These rooms are especially suitable for children, they are in the back of the house and separate from the front of the house and the two floors below!


On this floor there's a second bathroom also with full bathtub + overhead shower, washbasin and loo.


This apartment has a washer/dryer on the third floor available for guests' use.
